Resurfacing of roads in Blouberg and Milnerton

27 January 2025

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise the public on planned roadworks in Milnerton and Blouberg. The work will be done from today, 27 January 2025, until Saturday, 8 March 2025. In Milnerton, this maintenance work will be carried out at night between 19:00 and 05:00, Monday to Saturday, while in Blouberg the work will take place between 07:30 and 17:30, Monday to Saturday.

The purpose of this infrastructure-led maintenance project is to resurface the following roads:

  • William Penn Street and Milnerton Ridge in Milnerton
  • Atlantic Beach Drive in Melkbosstrand - from Otto du Plessis Drive to the Atlantic Beach Estate
  • And Sir David Baird Drive in Blouberg

‘We would like to thank residents and business owners for their patience and understanding during the course of this work that aims to keep Cape Town moving. The project will also include the installation of a raised ramp crossing on Sir David Baird Drive. Asphalt replacement will also take place on Otto du Plessis Road and Atlantis Beach Drive, along with the repainting of the green cycle lanes,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

To minimise traffic congestion, most of the milling of pavements will be carried out over a weekend. The work will include the repainting of retro-reflective line markings.

There will be partial lane closures or lane reductions during the resurfacing works.
